Why Our Fitness Tracker is More Accurate

The OxyStrap® is one of the most accurate fitness trackers on the market. Developed by a surgeon with a speciality in Bariatrics and fitness, it measures skin surface body temperature and oxygen saturation by monitoring the blood-rich surface of the head. Unlike other fitness trackers that are worn on the wrist, it is able to identify changes in blood oxygen saturation, helping allow for a safer workout. The unique placement and design allow for an accuracy similar to medical devices. The OxyStrap® fitness tracker measures:

  • Pulse rate
  • Blood oxygen saturation
  • Body temperature
  • Caloric burn
  • Distance travelled
  • Speed
  • Altitude
  • Steps

Why Oxygen Saturation Matters

Reduced oxygen saturation prevents the cells and tissues of your body from getting the oxygen they need for optimal performance. Low blood oxygen saturation levels can impact your body’s ability to function effectively. For example, pilots who fly small aircraft must monitor their blood oxygen saturation to prevent altitude sickness and impaired function. Normal oxygen saturation levels range from 95-100%. When your levels are within the normal range, your muscles can store a small amount of oxygen. When you start exercising, respiration increases, reducing oxygen saturation by 2-3%. During most exercises, oxygen saturation should remain above 92%. If the oxygen saturation dips too low, this can result in fatigue and the need to stop activity. While small changes in oxygen saturation are normal, low oxygen saturation can indicate illness as well as other causative factors, and might be an early warning sign to seek medical care. Always check with your doctor to determine what exercises are healthiest for your body.

Using the OxyStrap® Fitness Tracker to Detect Illness

Our fitness tracker can detect sudden changes in oxygen saturation, heart rate, and body temperature. Real-time audio alerts help users understand if they have reached dangerous levels, and can also help identify heart issues. An accurate fitness tracker can be used to help identify altitude sickness, heat stroke, and other issues that may require medical care. As always, seek medical guidance when starting out any new fitness regime or if you notice changes in your body.

Getting the Best Results from Your Fitness Tracker

There’s no “silver bullet” solution to improved health and well-being. A holistic, informed approach often yields the best results. Use your fitness tracker as a tool to support gradual weight loss, muscle gain, endurance, and overall cardiovascular health. There are so many ways to use your OxyStrap®, but here are a few basic tips to keep in mind as you get started:

  • Set realistic, short-term goals and revisit them on a weekly basis.
  • Don’t compare yourself with others. Instead, aim for gradual improvement against your own personal records.
  • Be consistent- it’s what you do every day that counts.
  • Use your smart device as a tool. Track your progress and share it with your trainer.
  • Give yourself healthy rewards: new workout gear, fresh fruit, scenic views, etc.
  • Prep the night before. Charge your fitness tracker, plan your route, pack workout clothes, snacks and water.
  • Plan a rest day. Everyone needs time to restore tired muscles.
  • Get a trainer. They can help you set new goals and keep things fresh.

Pair Your Fitness Tracker with Your Mobile Device

One advantage of the OxyStrap® fitness tracker is the ability to pair it with your smart device. We’ve designed our product to work with both IOS and Android phones, as well as provide real-time audio alerts. This means that you can adjust the intensity of your workout in real time, as well as set weekly and monthly goals for your performance. The OxyStrap® fitness tracker uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology, which is safe around the human body.
